English lessons for Cambodian kids with Volunteer For Rural Children of Cambodia (VFRCC)
VFRCC is a local nonprofit organization that operates in the village of Bakong, in the outskirts of Siem Reap (Cambodia). Its ultimate goal is to ease the situation of the most disadvantaged children from the countryside and give them a better opportunity in life, by providing them with free English lessons that help them improve their academic preparation and their overall skills, always bearing their future access to the job market in mind. Concurrently to that, having become a meeting point for lots of kids around the area, the project has grown as an important element of social cohesion, after gaining a solid reputation as a safe place for the children to stay while their parents finalize their endless hours of work in the fields or in the markets.
The English lessons organized by VFRCC are highly appreciated both by the local community and the children themselves, since they have proven to be a very good alternative and an excellent supplement to the regular teaching the kids already get in the public school. The lessons provided by VFRCC’s international volunteers have become some serious reinforcement in their learning process, and a highly valuable opportunity for the students to perfect their pronunciation and vocabulary.

WE HELP THE CHILDREN OF CAMBODIA MAKE THEIR DREAMS COME TRUE
VFRCC was founded on November the 3rd 2015 by Puthy Nov, a social worker and local volunteer. The initiative started off with 13 children, 0 volunteers, no infrastructure whatsoever and an absolute lack of school materials. Despite all that, today the project has thrived and transformed itself into a source of warmth and a second home for more than 334 kids living in the area, kept afloat by the altruistic collaboration of volunteers from all over the world who have taken active part and keep participating in the improvement of the children’s skills, be it in what regards language learning or any other area of education. Since July 2016, Puthy Nov has been working in tight collaboration with Cristina Solé, founder of Dream Big, who served as a volunteer in the project and has kept a strong commitment and an unbreakable bond with it ever since.
Thanks to VFRCC the children of Cambodia can keep dreaming big about their future, and it is because of that that we grant them all our support.
In the hope that all those dreams every day get a little closer to becoming a reality!
